60 years from now

Today a lot of people are dependent of internet in their everyday life. But according to a new report written by Olle Findahl at World Internet Institute, there’s still 1.3 million Swedes at the age over 50 years that aren’t internet users. Findahl means that’s because the technique today is expensive and complicated and many of these people aren’t interested in using internet.

From now on I think that the rate of internet users over 50 years will increase. More people will need it and the knowledge about the subject will increase. The cost of the technique will decrease which makes it more available for a bigger part of the Swedish people. In 60 years I think that every Swede has a computer, Ipad or phone with internet available in it. Even the oldest person will play online poker and read the news online. This creates a lot of opportunities but also problems. When you are old and have problems getting outside you can keep in touch with your friends live at skype. One big problem when you get older is dementia which makes you dizzy and your memory gets damaged. What if you in your confusion order a lot of stuff you can’t pay for without even knowing you did it? Internet is bounded by a lot of codes for your bank, mail and so on. If you forget these codes you can get problems with paying your bills and so on. But still the development of internet using is undenyable.

  1. I agree with you that more elderly people will use internet and computers in 60 years. I believe that those people today are brought up in a generation that don´t know how to not use computers, smart phones etc. It´s sad when people get dementia, it´s important that they have people around them who can help them with many different things.
I believe that there will be persons that will fight against technology just to make a statement.

  2. I think you are correctwhen you say that the elderly who use Internet will increase. Just think of how it will be when those who are young now become elderly. Internet usage among the elderly will probably be almost universal. I have actually not considered dementia and the use of passwords before now. It is actually a fairly big problem that has to be solved somehow.

  3. yeah I think you are right, because the internet doesnt exist when in the 1960. and they have lived their life without it so long so they dont need it like we young do today. I think we younger generation will not servivel a week without it...but nice blogged :D

  4. I agree to most of what you have stated. The internet use will only increase and oncrease. But I also thing that it has already come to a point that our lives depend on a small box with a processor and a hard disk.

I really hope that this trend changes back to old school a little bit.

  5. I agree with you when you say that from now on, the amount of internet users of the age 50 + will only increase. This seems to be quite natural for a group of people who probably encountered the technology through their jobs. The new generation of 50+ are also the parents of the kids who started to use internet and computers on a more everyday basis.

I think that, even though this technology provides many benefits, kids today spend too much time indoors, playing computer or play station games which could lead to future social problems.
